 More Trout & a Snook

Feb, 18 Fishing Report

I had some of my home builders out today to entertain a few clients and a mini tournament between two boats. We netted some whitebait and had some shrimp from the other day and the shrimp out fished the whitebait this day with a cold front coming in the next day. We decided to stick in the north bay because of the strong south wind that day and fished the same eddy that I fished the other day and stared catching some more nice Trout and as the water got warmer just before heading to the dock we got a bonus Snook so we end up with 10 trout and 1 Snook that was 28 inches.

 Trout in the Creeks

Feb, 17 Fishing Report

Today started out slow in the north end of Tampabay with only a few bites in the morning. I started to move around trying to fined some fish to eat and found a few Trout and ladyfish in the deeper channels and as the tide got higher and the water started to warm the fish started to bite better. We made are way up in the creeks an stared to fish the eddy and started to pick up a few more Trout in the 16 to 23 inch range and we did that for the rest of the day and we ended up with 10 nice keeper trout.

 Snook & more Snook

Feb, 16 Fishing Report

Today I took out some repeat clients. I picked them up at 12:30 to give the water time to warm up and it did just that it got up to 71 degrees on Weedon Island flat we pulled up to the first spot a deep pot hole with some dark bottom and tossed out a few whitebait and Snook on and end catching 10 more Snook between 25 to 29 inches. I wanted to go to a old spot that I had not fished in 4 years and I was glad we did the first bait in the water was a 33inch Snook the largest of the day with 9 more all about the same size as the first stop. We decided to call it a day and headed back to the ramp.

Redfish action is on right now in Tampa Bay

Feb. 1 - What a way to start the new year. Yesterday's redfish trip was a slam dunk with jumbo oversized fish and crystal clear water for sight fishing. Here is a pic and a video clip of a release. It's redfish action at its best right now, as fish get happier with dropping water temperatures and begin to back up in schools. Live bait fishing them into a frenzy or careful stalking and sight casting with spin or fly, you can't have much more fun than targeting west coast Florida reds.
